Our Experience

Our family first developed a passion for paddling and primitive canoe-camping as young Boy Scouts here in Southeast Texas. Our scouting experiences provided us with the necessary skills to plan, organize and facilitate outdoor adventures for small parties or large groups. Founded in 1978, Eastex Canoes is the largest and most experienced canoe rental & livery service in Southeast Texas. Our local knowledge on these waterways is updated continuously (we paddle too!). Over the years, our staff has personally assisted thousands of groups and families plan safe & memorable outdoor adventures in Big Thicket National Preserve.

Our Service & Equipment

Your safety is important to us! Eastex Canoe Trails offers you and your family or group the very best service & equipment on Village Creek. Eastex Canoes' shuttle service operates a fleet of enclosed Vans to transport you and your family upstream. Our drivers will never ask you or your children to ride in the open bed of a truck! Eastex staff members are friendly and professional - dedicated to transporting your party to your destination in a safe and timely manner. Our guys will unload your boats for you and outfit everyone with paddles and lifejackets prior to your departure. They are glad to offer some basic instruction & assistance getting in your boats and promise "service with a smile." After your trip - our staff will retrieve your rental boats at the Take-out free of charge (until 6pm).

Our Location

Eastex Canoe Trails Headquarters offers visitors a clean & comfortable facility near to all Village Creek access. At headquarters, you will sign up for your trip and get information on your chosen canoe trail. Secure overnight parking for campers is available at our headquarters free of charge for our rental customers.

At Eastex Canoes' Headquarters - you and your family or group will have access to:

• A clean restroom - the last civilized one you will see for a while
• An Outdoor Store stocked with many useful items
• Maps & Information on all canoe trails
• On-duty Staff each day beginning 8am
• Secure overnight parking near all canoe trails

• Packages are 2 persons per canoe (minimum) for 1, 2 or 3 days.
• Solo Kayak (or canoe) for Adults & Kids = Package Price + $10 (per day)
• Large 3-person & XL Family-sized canoes available (no extra charge)
• Paddles & Lifejackets provided for everyone
• All canoes & kayaks delivered to Put In free of charge
• Pickup of all canoes & equipment at Take Out provided free (until 6:00 pm)

6.25% Sales Tax is NOT included in package prices.  $25.00 Late Return Deposit will be forfeited by any party returning equipment to the designated landing after 6:00 pm.  “Drop-Ins” are always welcome, but Reservations  are required to guarantee discounts and availability of equipment & service.
